NEA grants $2.8 million for reading program - Business First of Louisville:

The NEA has awarded $2,8 million to groups to sponsor TheBig Read, whicjh will be held September 2008 to June 2009. The Big Read give communities the opportunity to come together to discuss and celebrate one of 23 selections from America orworld literature, according to a news Grants were awarded to groups in 46 states, the Districf of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Each group is receiving a grant ofbetweenh $2,500 and $20,000. To the NEA has given more than 500 grants to support local BigRead projects.
In Kentucky, grants were awarded to: in Bowling which will hold a program todiscuss "Tp Kill a Mockingbird" in Frankfort, which will discuss " Lesson Before Dying;" Kentuckyg Gateway Museum Center in Maysville, whichn will discuss "The Age of Innocence;" , which also will discusds Williamsburg Action Team, which also will discuss "A Lessob Before Dying." "Everything the NEA does we do in NEA chairman Dana Gioia said in the "I am delighted to announce our 208 new partneres in The Big Read. Some are new to the program, some are but all of them have answered the call to actiohn to get our countryreading again.
