A.M. Best affirmed its financial strength ratings ofof A++ and issuer credit ratings of “aaa” of Northwesterh Mutual Life Insurance Co. and its subsidiary The outlook for both ratingssis stable, the N.J., ratings organization said Thursday. The ratingw reflect Northwestern Mutual’s sizabld and mature individual life insurance conservativeoperating profile, strong operatinh performance and superior risk-adjusted capitalization, A.M. Best Partially offsetting those positive rating factors was the recenft decline inNorthwestern Mutual’s adjusted capitall and surplus due mainly to realized and unrealizedf investment losses, A.M. Best said. A.M.
Best also noteds that Northwestern Mutual maintains an above average aggregatd exposure to privateplacement bonds, beloww investment grade, or "junk," bonds, commercial mortgages and equities. Despite NM increasinhg the total number of financial representatives over the pastcoupled years, Northwestern Mutual may be challengecd to continue to grow the number of salees professionals while maintaining current levels of retentioh and productivity over the long A.M.
